The new urbanism in the 21st Century as seen by ABIBOO Architecture

Globalization has accelerated the process of transformation of public spaces

We are immersed in a society that has rapidly changed from the culture of industrialization, characterized by perfect, categorical, absolute, and rigid truths, to a different one made of a precarious, fast, immediate, fluid, and shapeless context, typical of the society of information. Globalization has accelerated the process of social change and the public space in the city, turning towards the architecture of design and innovation still combining a genuine social architecture commitment.

Today’s habitability is spent in those places called non-places by Augé, architectural or psychological spaces which in a certain way don’t belong to us and are not subject of colonization. This phenomenon is even more noticeable in the urban development of developing countries (BRIC) where the speed of execution, the financial pressure, the lack of regulation, and the “momentum” of growth, generate many completely new spaces in terms of typologies and urban structures.

If we want to deeply analyze the new urbanism of the 21st century, we must set aside the legacy of “think local, act global” characteristic of the late 20th century and get closer to the “think global, act local”. To do that, is essential to know the cultures in which the urban structures subject of analysis are inserted.

ABIBOO Architecture is an international studio, with branches in Madrid, New York, and India. In its brand new web page incorporates the `Think Tank´, a space thought for to exchange ideas, a laboratory conceived for the continuous intellectual exploration about creative ideas that describe the new society of information.

ABIBOO Architecture offers an innovative architectural design, which has always been present in its international architecture from Furniture and Interior Design, to urban landscape and Design, and multiple typological architectural designs.
